The Hat Maker, as it is now known, was once a workshop where fine hats were crafted by skilled artisans. Today, this historic site has been transformed into a character-filled hotel that blends old-world charm with modern comforts. The hotel quietly opened its doors in May and is now preparing to welcome guests during the winter season.

Owners Rebecca Queally and David Burke have put in significant effort to ensure that each of the 16 bedrooms at The Hat Maker offers a unique and memorable stay. They scoured antique markets across Ireland and the UK to find original pieces that would complement the building’s rich history. With the help of interior designer Ann Kirby, they have styled each room to reflect a distinct personality.
Visitors can expect to find super-king beds dressed in Irish linens, paired with quirky individual touches such as a peacock print headboard and a corduroy couch. One of the standout rooms is the master suite, which was once the drawing room of the former townhouse. It offers panoramic views of the city's main street, allowing guests to take in the surroundings from the comfort of their room.
Even the attic has been given a fresh new look, reimagined as two split-level mezzanine rooms. These spaces offer a cozy and intimate atmosphere, perfect for those seeking a quiet retreat.

Guests can start their day with pastries from the local bakery Dún, along with cold cuts and artisanal bread. From 8 pm onwards, the café bar also offers small plates of antipasti, charcuterie, and cheeseboards, which pair perfectly with a glass of vino.
