In a significant event that unfolded in Ipoh on October 30, hundreds of household items, electronic gadgets, and three vehicles belonging to the renowned celebrity entrepreneur Datuk Seri Vida were sold at an auction for RM1 million. Vida, whose real name is Hasmiza Othman, was unable to settle an outstanding debt of nearly RM1.1 million owed to construction contractor AH Design Communication Sdn Bhd. The first bidder's offer fell below the set price and was rejected, allowing the second bidder, a businessman named Norzamri Abdullah, to win the auction at 1:40 pm.
Among the items up for sale were multiple sofa sets, dining tables, bedroom sets, and various electronics such as televisions, computers, a PlayStation, and an arcade machine. Additionally, a BMW X7, a Toyota Vellfire, and a Toyota Grand Hi-Ace were also included in the auction.
When questioned about the remaining RM100,000 debt, Samir stated that his client would continue to pursue the balance. He explained that further instructions from his client would determine the next steps, whether through additional legal action or negotiations.
This auction represents the culmination of a lengthy legal process. The items were initially seized during a five-hour operation at Vida’s bungalow in November last year. An initial auction scheduled for December 2024 was postponed after the High Court in Kuala Lumpur granted Vida a stay, following her claim that some of the seized items were borrowed goods.
Reporters were not allowed to enter the residence during the auction proceedings today. Mohamad Taufik Kamalbari, a subcontractor from AH Design Communication present at the scene, expressed satisfaction with the professional and smooth execution of the auction by court officers.
